- Check the build date, not just the model year — a unit still inside Jayco's 2-year warranty window with one transfer available is worth a real premium
- Get on the roof (or insist on photos): membrane condition, seam sealant, and skylight/vent seals tell you more about a used trailer's future than anything inside
- Cycle every slide fully in and out, listening for grinding and watching the floor seal wipe — slide motor/rack repairs are common on high-use family trailers
- Look under the trailer at the underbelly wrap for sagging or water staining, and check the tongue jack, spring hangers, and tire date codes
Frequently asked questions
Does Jayco's 2-year warranty transfer to a used buyer?
Yes — once. If the original owner registered it and the trailer is inside 24 months from the retail purchase date, the balance transfers to the second owner. Verify the in-service date with a Jayco dealer before you buy.
Jay Flight vs White Hawk — what's the real difference?
Jay Flight is the value line: stick-and-tin aluminum siding, proven and cheap to fix. White Hawk is laminated fiberglass with better insulation and finish. For fair-weather campground use the Jay Flight is fine; for shoulder-season trips the White Hawk build earns its premium.
Are Jaycos built better than other Thor-family brands?
Jayco runs its own plants and its warranty is twice the industry standard, which says something about confidence. But it's still production RV building — inspect any used unit the same way: roof, seals, slides, floor.
