Buyer questions
Eight questions buyers ask about the Airstream Caravel 22FB, answered from the RVs listed on US RV Connection right now.
Right now US RV Connection shows 4 priced Caravel 22FB listings, all travel trailers, asking from $56,977 up to $89,602 with a median asking price of $84,634. Those are asking prices, not what anyone paid. The low end of the range is a used 2020, while the upper figures are new 2026 units, so condition and model year explain most of the spread. All 4 listings include photos.
The current listings span 2020 through 2026. That is a small sample of 4 trailers, so coverage is thin between those years rather than one of every model year. The older end is represented by a 2020 described as a compact luxury travel trailer, and the newest units are 2026 models, including one listed as a 22FBQ with the front queen bed.
The 22FB is a single floorplan with front bed and rear bath, and the descriptions bear that out. One 2026 is listed with a rear full bath, U-shaped dinette, full-size bed, closet and three-burner cooktop. Another 2026 describes a front queen with a rear U-shaped dinette that converts to extra sleeping space. The 2020 has a front walk-around queen, convertible rear dinette and a wet bath with shower.
With years spanning 2020 to 2026, the used end deserves the most attention. On an aluminum travel trailer, look closely at seams, rivets, window seals and the belly for water intrusion, and check the floor around the rear bath. The 2020 listing mentions a wet bath, so test the shower pan and drain. Confirm the cooktop, microwave and fridge run on both power sources, and check single-axle tires, bearings and brakes.
Features named in these listings include panoramic windows, a 200W solar charging system, a 12V electric refrigerator, a powered patio awning, a three-burner cooktop on one 2026 and a two-burner LP cooktop with microwave, fridge and stainless appliances on the 2020. There is a rear full bath on one 2026 and a wet bath with shower on the 2020, plus handcrafted cabinetry and a closet. Anything not listed here, ask the seller.
That is how these listings frame it. One 2026 description calls it perfect for couples and adventurous travelers, with a front bed, panoramic windows and premium finishes for weekend getaways or longer trips. The 2020 is described as suited to weekend getaways or cross-country road trips. The front queen plus a convertible rear dinette means two people get a dedicated bed without converting anything nightly.
The 4 Caravel 22FB trailers on US RV Connection are spread across four states, one each in Haltom City, Texas; Knoxville, Tennessee; Ramsey, Minnesota; and Tucson, Arizona. With that few units, there is a good chance the nearest one is still a drive away. All four have photos, so you can get a reasonable look at condition and interior before deciding whether a trip is worth it.
By the numbers on US RV Connection, the Bambi 22FB is closest: 5 listed, 2022 to 2027, asking $51,645 to $88,600 with a median of $79,531, versus the Caravel's $56,977 to $89,602 and $84,634 median. The Basecamp 20X is the cheaper, more rugged option, with 8 listed from 2021 to 2026 asking $39,900 to $74,450, median $67,835. The listings do not spell out feature-by-feature differences, so compare individual descriptions.
Answers are written from approved, priced listings on US RV Connection— asking prices, not sale prices — and from what the dealers' own descriptions say. Figures in the strip above are live; the answers refresh as inventory changes.
