CrossRoads RV is a Topeka, Indiana, builder owned by Thor Industries, the largest RV manufacturer in the world. The name shows up on a wide spread of towables, from budget travel trailers sold on price to the Redwood luxury fifth wheels aimed at full-timers. That range is why used-market searches for CrossRoads bring up such different prices. This guide explains the lines so you know which CrossRoads you are looking at.
The lines
| Line | Type | Position | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zinger | Travel trailer (plus Zinger Lite) | Entry level | Lightweight, many bunkhouse floorplans, a common first trailer |
| Sunset Trail | Travel trailer | Mid-range | A step up in finish and features from Zinger; popular with families |
| Volante | Travel trailer and fifth wheel | Mid-range | Broad floorplan spread, including compact fifth wheels for lighter trucks |
| Cruiser | Fifth wheel (and the Cruiser Aire) | Upper mid-range | Larger fifth wheels with residential touches |
| Hampton | Destination trailer | Park model style | Built for seasonal sites, not for frequent towing |
| Redwood | Fifth wheel | Luxury | Full-time-oriented fifth wheels with heavier construction and higher-end interiors |
What the budget lines are and are not
Zinger and Sunset Trail compete on price against the entry lines from Forest River, Keystone and Jayco. They are built to that price. A used Zinger can be an excellent value for weekend use, but buyers should look at it the way they would look at any budget trailer: seals, floors, slide rooms and the roof decide the deal, not the badge.
- Check for soft spots in the floor near the entry door, the bathroom and the slide, where water finds its way in first.
- Press the ceiling at corners and around vents and look for staining; delamination on the exterior walls shows as bubbles or waves.
- Cycle slides, awning, furnace, water heater, air conditioner and every appliance on both shore power and battery or propane.
- Read the date codes on the tires. Entry-level trailers often leave the factory on tires that owners replace early.
Redwood and Cruiser: the other end of the range
Redwood fifth wheels were built as a full-time residence on wheels: heavier frames, residential appliances, higher insulation ratings and interiors that match the price. They require a serious truck, usually a one-ton dually, and they sit in the same conversation as other luxury fifth wheels rather than with the rest of the CrossRoads line. Cruiser sits a step below, with much of the same feel at lower weight and price.

Frequently asked questions
- Who makes CrossRoads RV?
- CrossRoads RV is a subsidiary of Thor Industries, built in Topeka, Indiana.
- Is CrossRoads a good RV brand?
- It is a mainstream builder with lines at every price point. The entry lines are built to a price; the Redwood fifth wheels are regarded as among Thor's better luxury towables. Judge the line and the specific unit, not the badge.
- What is the cheapest CrossRoads RV?
- The Zinger and Zinger Lite travel trailers are the entry point. The live table on this page shows the lowest asking price by brand on this site today.
- What is the difference between Zinger and Sunset Trail?
- Sunset Trail is a step up from Zinger in interior finish, features and sometimes construction, at a higher price. Both are travel trailers aimed at families.
- Is Redwood made by CrossRoads?
- Yes. Redwood is CrossRoads' luxury fifth wheel line, aimed at full-time and extended-stay owners.
- Can a half-ton truck tow a CrossRoads trailer?

- What should I inspect on a used Zinger?
- Water intrusion first: floors, ceiling corners, slide seals and wall delamination. Then every appliance on each power source, and the tires' date codes.
- Does CrossRoads still make the Hampton?
- Hampton destination trailers have been part of the lineup in recent years. Lineups change; confirm current production with a dealer.
